About us.

Rein Film is a film production company established in 2009, with offices in Oslo and Kirkenes. Our expertise is producing in the harsh Arctic climate the Barents region is known for.  The midnight sun and the northern lights give unique looks, and we know how to get it on film. The area has a lot to offer: Frost, snow and blizzards, exotic Sámi communities, tundra and reindeers, dramatic mountains, glaciers, open sea, taiga forests, salmon rivers, urban cities, small towns and even a film studio.

When we commit to a project, it´s important for us that the film challenges the way to tell stories, and that it has something to say. If we should describe what our films have in common, we would choose the words new perspectives, identity, and passion.

We do a huge variety in genres and formats. We mostly do TV-series, feature films and documentaries. But we also do short films, experimental films, dance films and music videos. We prefer to be hands on projects from an early start and finance them from development on.
We produce our own films, and we do international co-productions. The international producers we work with often tell us that producing in Norway is a lot cheaper and more cost effective than what they expected.

In 2023 our feature film “Longing for today” directed by Knut Erik Jensen, and our feature documentary “Mii leat ain dás“(We are still here) directed by Gunilla Bresky will premiere.
As will our TV-drama “Saving the Fucking Planet” (“Vi lover et helvete“) created together with Fenomen.

These co-productions are also to be released in 2023: Hisham Zaman’s feature film “A Happy Day”, the Finnish TV-drama “Reindeer Mafia” and the German TV-Drama “The seed.”

Previous productions include the TV-drama “Monster” (2017), the French feature “Donne Moi des Ailes”(”Spread your wings”) (2019) and the Danish feature “Miss Osaka”(2021). Also worth mentioning is Tommy Wirkola’s feature film “Kurt Josef Wagle og mordmysteriet på Hurtigruta”(2017).
